A Heap of Anime News Dropped During the Holidays

The Yuletide season present a multitude of pastimes much better than scanning the latest news: discovering surprises, feasting on holiday treats, and using meditation skills to refrain from yelling at family members. It is wished you were able to do all these things and more. That said, the entertainment world doesn't take a break, and this is particularly true for the realm of anime. Numerous thrilling announcements surfaced during the break, and if you missed a few, here is a compilation of the juiciest bits.

The One-Punch Man Series Season 3 Is Set to Continue (In 2027)

Truly the biggest announcement, the notorious disaster that was season 3 of One-Punch Man proved insufficient to stop further production. The show will come back with a second cour in 2027—so far away they could have labeled it season 4. Even more shocking, the studio J.C. Staff will continue to be at the helm. On a positive note this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the outset, which might be a positive development. However, the promotional image for the continuation is a mirror of the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This suggests that, by now, they could be mocking the fans.

Ruri Dragon Is Poised to Be the First Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has built a reputation for being an prestigious animation studio, distinguishing itself not just for the superb artistry of its work but for the ethical practices of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Curiously, until now, it had not produced an anime stemming from a manga from Shonen Jump, possibly the most iconic magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will end that streak, and what a excellent choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo gained widespread acclaim when it launched in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the author's health issues. When it came back with a lighter schedule, the series showed it still retained the fans' support and enthusiasm, and now the community is ecstatic about the upcoming KyoAni adaptation.

The Kingdom Series Season 6 Has a Sequel Currently in Production

Kingdom is the best-selling, epic Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've haven't come across it before, it's because it only just received an English localization, but the anime has been running for a while, and its sixth season was yet another stellar entry. Apparently that was just the first half, because a "sequel" has been revealed as currently being made, and it will probably air in 2026.

Science Saru Is Bringing A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series

A further studio known for the excellent quality of its work, Science Saru has given us masterpieces of the caliber of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, based on the real historical figure of Fatima, an prominent woman and thinker in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Judging from the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a distinctly fresh and intriguing visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Set to premiere in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my list of anticipated shows.

The Tougen Anki Series Is Set to Continue With a Second Season

Shortly after the release of the final episode of the first season, it was confirmed that Tougen Anki will be securing a sequel. Adapted from the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara. The new season of the anime will cover the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a firm release date has not yet been announced.
