Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.

Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
