Esteemed actress Helen Mirren Will Be Awarded Golden Globe Career Honor.
The distinguished British actress Helen Mirren, currently winner of an Academy Award, several BAFTA honors, Globes trophies, multiple Emmy accolades, plus a Tony, is poised to receive another major award to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Globes' lifetime achievement award.
Honors Presentation
The actress, 80, previously made a dame in 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow in the year 2014, will pick up the accolade during a presentation on 8 January, shortly before the primary Globes ceremony occur, as part of a program described by the Globes as the Golden Eve event.
Also part of the event will be the bestowal of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett award for small-screen contributions, the recipient of which has yet to be announced. Last year’s winners included Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.
“Helen Mirren is an unstoppable talent, with a career is nothing short of remarkable,” stated Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes. “Her brilliant portrayals and dedication to acting constantly motivate numerous actors and viewers as well. It is a profound honour to present her with the Cecil B DeMille award.”
Notable Roles
Helen Mirren rose to fame back in the 70s through significant parts on stage at London’s West End and with the RSC as well as in movies such as O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.
In the 1990s, her starring role in the crime series Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase even more. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.
She earned an Academy Award for her performance as Elizabeth II in 2006 film The Queen, a character she reprised in 2013 in The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan about the meetings involving the monarch and the PM Margaret Thatcher, a role for which she earned a Tony back in 2015.

- More recent films feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda & Barbie, which she narrated.
- Mirren’s turn in the streaming adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews with award talk is growing about her portrayal as an ailing family head in Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
- In the coming year, she will appear portraying Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.
Golden Globe nods are set to be revealed December 8, featuring Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
