American entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles recently having undergone cancer treatment since 2022, according to reports.

"He never met a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family stated in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

A Notable TV Career

His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote online.

The actor is survived by his partner Donna, three children, and his family.
