Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande during Red Carpet Event Banned from Singapore
A man from Australia who jumped over a barricade and reached for celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and barred from Singapore.
The individual, twenty-six, was handed a penalty to more than a week in detention for causing a public disturbance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority informed news outlets.
He forced his way beyond security and charged at the celebrity, who was present at the regional launch for the musical adaptation on 13 November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
Wen has a history of interrupting performances and star-studded occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.
The event provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of causing further distress to the star.
The celebrity has spoken of suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a explosive incident at her show in Manchester in spring of 2017 took the lives of 22 people and hurt numerous attendees.
Throughout the court proceedings, the judge was informed he had tried to gain access on the red carpet event twice, according to Singaporean media.
