Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
