Netflix Chooses Ideal Performer for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Third Season

Baroque Works is geared up to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t take place until season 3, and a adored, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.

The platform declared recently that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Mr. 2. This character has the ability to transform into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that character reimagined as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the live-action show, as in the initial comic and cartoon version.

Escola joins multiple new cast members who will portray Baroque Works to life, such as chief Mr. 0, played by the well-known actor, a talented actress as a key member, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Though Bon Clay is a important part of the group, the character will be introduced in One Piece the third season. Considering the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this signals a notable change in the placement of the character’s debut, one that could signal additional alterations to the story’s structure.

Their mix of sharp comedic timing and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the character. Along with their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and several accolades for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is set to return for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
