Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Supporters'
Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Tension on the Manager
Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told afterwards "they can't be true Tottenham fans" by boss Frank.
Tottenham conceded two goals in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth Premier League home defeat of 2025.
But the main topic of discussion was Fulham's next goal when the keeper gave away the ball far beyond his area.
He came out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball near the touchline.
But, instead of booting it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six metres.
Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Spurs fans jeered him.
The team were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at full-time.
A particular of those jeering episodes truly irritated the manager.
"It came to my attention some of our supporters apparently jeered the situation and booed following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented about the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.
"Those individuals can't be real Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough jeering after the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are with one another going forward."
Kenny Tete had given Fulham a early lead prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second period performance.
Former top-flight keeper Joe Hart stated that the second score was "completely avoidable".
"I do understand the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He's a great team player, he's a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.
"The keeper was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the decisive goal."
'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game
Italy national team Vicario is in his third campaign with Spurs.
The 29-year-old stated following the match that he had to take the criticism.
"That score was a mistake of mine, I take accountability for it," he said.
"The intent was to kick the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult mountain to overcome."
He stated receiving jeers "is part of the game".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "The team can't be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.
"It is on the team to remain increasingly composed, to focus on our own performance. The team is lacking in composure and calmness to reverse results. Today is a poor loss and it is hard to take."
'I Was Surprised No One Went Back to the Goal Line'
Despite the keeper's mistake, it was far from an easy score for Wilson to convert.
In fact it was the second most distant top division score of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly also occurred on Saturday.
Wilson stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an empty net to aim for.
10 moments passed between Vicario exiting of his area and Wilson striking – which was five moments after the kick.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was out of the box for a long time," Wilson remarked.
"It amazed me not one of the back four returned to the goal line. When none of them covered the net, my eyes lit up a bit.
"Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of extra opportunity. After that it was all about trying to achieve the correct connection and get it towards goal. I felt a good sense, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank
Although Vicario's mistake dominated coverage, this was an overall poor day for Tottenham to extend their home ground struggles.
The match was their tenth home loss of the year in the Premier League, a shared club record along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.
They still have home games against the manager's former club the Bees and champions the Reds to come prior to the close of the season.
Only one of those victories have come since Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
"If you are behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated the boss.
"During in a poor run, everything appears to go against you as well – the first was a redirected attempt, the next is a error from Vic.
"The outcome puts us in a place where we have lost an additional game. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we lost in the early stages.
"We simply need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can utilize to learn."
Tottenham have lost four straight home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.
Furthermore they are averaging 9.5 attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the division – their poorest averages on record in a one season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Ex- Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.
"He's got accept the stick," Murphy remarked. "He has accepted a prestigious role at a major football club with massive expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.
"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
